Playing it right, makes it more fun.
It's becoming clear that most BF2 players think it's just CS with planes and cars and tanks, which it sort of is I suppose, but to make the game 10 times more fun, follow a few simple suggestions.
JOIN SQUADS!
JOIN SQUADS!
JOIN SQUADS!
If you are a squad leader (basically if you're at the top of the list in your squad), pass on the commands from the commander to the rest of your squad, it's not hard, just press page up when you're given an order, *usually the commander knows best, if you have to take care of something else like defend a previous objective, tell the commander somehow, either by direct voice comms to the commander by pressing "V" or in team chat.
If you're in a squad and you're given objectives, follow them, stick with your squad and you'll reach the objective much easier. and remember you can spawn right behind or in the same vehicle as your squad leader by selecting the green dot as your spawn point, sometimes this is unavailable due to the vehicle or he/she is dead.
If you apply to be a commander, use it fully, find a hidey hole, press caps lock and focus entirely on commander stuff, scan the map as much as possible, place artilliary where it's needed, place UAVs where they are needed and supplies. Also make sure you respond to UAV/Supplies/Artiliary requests, if a squad leader requests something it appears on the map flashing yellow with the appropriate symbol, right click on it and select accept or deny.
Trust me it's way more fun if you play this game correctly, I'm sure others will agree with me.
