Re: the iPad

I see a smack load of potential with them and even I am tempted to get one for reading material... would be great for commuting, etc etc...

If tablets were designed like this, my whole company would be running on them!!!

Re: the iPad

Forget about running anything decent on them 16 gig to 64g? What were they thinking. This is a perfect example of Apple targeting Tech noobs. As an E-Reader it fails due to the LED screen and poor resolution compared to the readability of the Kindle. The General Feeling on all the Net is "Underwhelming" and rightly so.

No sd slot, no multitasking, not true widescreen, no buttons for real gaming, software tied to itunes, closed source, no thanks Steve I'll take Android anyday.

Re: the iPad

i could imagine something like that for gaming, just point at your target and yell bang lol, would most probably need a voice sensor and to be modded/supported into the games lol

Re: the iPad

The presentation, if you haven't watched it, the device was marketed as a gaming device as well as a Netbook alternative.

Helps to research the subject before LOLing.

What gaming indeed, I realise Ipod gaming is significant in the casual arena but buttons are always a bonus for any gaming device.

As an owner of a DS, PS3, 360, Android phone and gaming grade PC, I fail to see this offering me any benefit, though the fans would eat this up regardless of the device being a technical incursion.

It is ironic that my 360, DS, PS3 and Android phone cost about the same as an iphone. I guess being an enthusiast of tech is not Apples Target market.

the lack of flash is ridiculously stupid considering it is supported on the iphone, which is just undeniable.

What i think people are lacking to understand is the purpose of the unit. Its basically just a web surfing/email reading unit with ability for apps and iphone/itouch features. Having said that, yes it does lack a few features which one would expect would be in such a system.

More than anything what makes this amazing is the technology behind it and future developments with Apps.
iPhone gaming is AMAZING. There is no doubt about that and whatever you say cannot change my mind as i have an iPhone and use these almost everyday. Knowing that the possibilities that come to mind with this upscaled steroid injected unit gets me excited. With that much power behind it developers are going to be able to push apps made to amazing limits.

Re: the iPad

Apple i think forgot that they should have done some market research on the people who would use this, not the mums and dads who dont have any technical know how but the mums and das and buisness owners and employees who do so, i hope apple " learn " from this if they dont then i suspect they are relying on there brand instead of being more innovative after its i Phone launch. Seems momentum has hit a hurdle for now.

Re: the iPad

$700 ish for an oversized iphone?

I think i would rather buy a proper tablet for $1500. Roughly the same sive weight - the option to run a java based OS and still have the ability to change OS or add a keyboard!

I think that apple have this one wrong - This will be the apple flop.

Haven't played on an iPhone, but have played on an iPod Touch.

I must say, it doesn't seem like such a great investment for gaming.

Re: the iPad

to be fair its very exciting when you think about the potential of gaming on the iphones they are pretty powerful, but the ipad is really stupid, It's in the middleground where there really isn't a need for a new device, like sizewise you vant put it in your pocket, yet you can put it in a bag so you may as well use a laptop.
