Season 9 Sportsman Final
Hi Folks
I have received numerous comments on the setup for the Sportsman Final, that have given me reason to explain the premise behind what had been done. In previous leagues, the Sportsman Finals teams are selected by the GameOps for the teams that missed out on the Finals but still played the Season in the "Spirit" of the game (not Team Captains).
This year as there were only 2 teams that were out of the finals series due to ineligibility, I decided to award the privileged to the teams that had made it to the Grand Final in the belief that they would have chosen teams that have followed the Spirit of the League. This has met with a level of criticism that wasn't expected. So to risk further criticism (can't be worse than what I am getting now), this offer has been rescinded and the choice will be decided by the League Referees as has been done in the past.
So upon myself and Shadowrance having a bit of a chat, we have decided that the Sportsman Final will be as follows.
Date: Sunday 22nd November
Teams : Ready & Willing and BCA Alliance vs 1st Commando Regiment (AEF)
Map: Operation SmokeScreen
The Match will be played as a 10v10 match with Unlocks being On for this match ONLY.
Apologies for the confusion, but we realise we can't satisfy everybody. Season 10 will be announced soon, and expect things to be a little different this time

Sorry Wiz, I don't want to give you **** over this, as you say you've already been coping it. But are you saying that ARK and +SC+ did not select teams that have played in the 'spirit of the league'?

Re: Season 9 Sportsman Final
Nope.... just relaying my hopes, but that others may not have seen it that way. This is not a dig at anyone... so please don't everyone start getting their backs up about it, lets keep on keeping on
On further note, could the captains of RAW and AEF plz get in contact with me to try and organise a time for the match... Cheers

So did the teams they pick not play in the "spirit of the league"?
Ok just read your post again, so apparently they did pick two teams that played in the "spirit of the league"... so doesn't that justify what the "Sportsman's Final" is all about? Playing in the spirit of the league? I'm confused Wiz!

Re: Season 9 Sportsman Final
Let me clarify this hopefully a little clearer.
This is a change in who picks the teams for the Sportsman Final. It has nothing to do with what teams picked what, it has to do with me making an mistake and having to rectify it and now having to deal with the consequences.
People aren't going to be happy either way, and I can't do anything about that now. except for deal with whatever you want to comment on. Just be aware that you still need to write to a particular standard.

Re: Season 9 Sportsman Final
Congrats to AEF and RAW, both deserving. All teams are deserving at GS of such an honour, because it such a great league and all the teams make it so. Oh and the Game Ops!

Re: Season 9 Sportsman Final
Thank you very much for picking RAW & BCA (R&B) for the sportsman finals it is a great honour. We appreciate it very much.
As to when and on what map,
R&B like to war either on Thursdays or Sundays after 8:30pm and our map prefernces would be Great Wall, Strike at Karkand, Strike at Karkand 2
Regards

Re: Season 9 Sportsman Final
Smokescreen looks pretty sick, I'm definitely down for this. Thanks to the Gaymops for organising this and running such an awesome season.
Btw the idea of a community wide match sounds awesome, if all the captains got together we could organise it similarly to how we organised our Battle Cry event. How many clans would be interested in doing something like this in the future?

Re: Season 9 Sportsman Final
While it's being discussed, for future seasons - I think each team in the league should have one team vote towards the sportsman finalists.
I mean if anyone is in a position to determine who are the true sportsman of the league, surely it is the teams that play in the league every week? I can't think of a fairer and more accurate way to decide it than that.

Re: Season 9 Sportsman Final
Well it was done fair enough, *AUS* was knocked out of the decision due to it being my clan.
Can we stop the complaint's about it? It has been (this season) chosen by the Op's because of too many complaint's.
I'm sure the option for the community to vote will be re-instated next season, maybe without the arguement's this time.
Please leave this thread to congratulation's and thank's.

With most wanting thier Mates in.It would most likely be bias.
Seen this so many times and still am.
People's definition of "Sportsman" is not always the same.

That wasn't a complaint Shadow, I'm just making a suggestion, split the topic maybe?

If every team gets 1 vote and it takes a majority of votes to seal the deal, none of that matters. Each team has equal input so no one team can influence the outcome unfairly..?
GLHF AEF and RAW/BCA, this map is awesome.

Re: Season 9 Sportsman Final
At this moment, it will be next Sunday so that you don't have a clash with the Grand Final (also so you can listen in to it as well)
