DX11 is coming, it’s coming…

Rebellion are the guys making the new Aliens vs. Predator gaming and they are including DX11 into the mix and the game will be published by Sega. Chris Kingsley, CTO of Rebellion said, “DirectX 11 provides opportunities never exploited before in 3D graphical terms, with features such as the Shader Model 5.0 providing better shadow and depth of field aspects to the game, and also multi-threaded rendering enabling the Aliens Vs. Predator futuristic characters and environments to be realised in exacting detail but with absolutely no frame rate issues. We are confident we will deliver a game the fans have been waiting for and one of which we will be very proud.” This means that games should start saving up for the next generation of DX11 cards if they do not have any and probably upgrade their rigs with hardware and software advancements for battle. This game will be out in February 2010 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Will DX11 make much of a difference in the gaming world?

No, just continue to lock the gaming community into staying with Microsoft's operating system platform.

more like buy new hardware

i just bought my new video card grrr but i doubt ill care about dx11... looks like nothing major for now... i think current shadows on dx9 are awesome let alone dx10... dont think 11 will improve much on them

as for multi thread rendering? if they are talking about cpu i doubt its video card related... if they are talking about mulitple cpus on card... thats already supported via sli / xfire principle i would have imagined
