Even though Windows 7 is not out yet properly, news comes to hand about future technology endeavours, accidentally leaked by one of the Microsoft boys. On a site called LinkedIn, which is based on social networking for business associates, the senior researcher who had the details on his page wrote that he was “Working in high security department for research and development involving strategic planning for medium and longterm projects. Research & Development projects including 128-bit architecture compatibility with the Windows 8 kernel and Windows 9 project plan. Forming relationships with major partners: Intel, AMD, HP and IBM." Even though it was yanked, it can still be found here in Google cache. It is interesting to say, but 64 bit CPU’s have been out for a number of years, yet Windows 7 will still be available in 32 and 64 bit flavours, so if Windows 8 will be 128 bit like it seems to be planned, then 64 bit will probably be supported as well.
Do you think that if this occurred that it would be good for consumers?
is the dating January 2002 correct? i assume is must be missing something because that would be seriously long term.
That's how long he has been working in that position for. Notice it says January 2002 — Present. He's listing all the places he has worked.
Regardless if this is true or not, 128 bit is a joke to home users, must like 64 bit. For how many years did AMD Athlon fanboys run around infecting the Internet with their "omgz u'll be able to run da 64 bit programz" defence - when by the time a working 64 bit operating system and drivers were actually released you'd be lucky to find an Athlon in the bargain bin.

Re: Windows 8 and 9 could be 128 bit
Oh hay2u bacon!
Anyhows yep really plausible right there!! IBM Roadrunner running Windows 9/8 would be a orsm!! (/sarcasm)
Laughable Comment: Spoiler:
But very possible, if we consider Moore's Law that every 18months = technology doubles (transistor counts). Lets say.. Best right now is 8core Proc, x2 (16 in 2years) x2 again (4 years of developers til win 8) that's 32 Cores (yes, sounds laughable but hypothetical, don't forget that this is if stay on current style of processing and obviously NEW architecture will blow this estimation out of the water )
In 4 years time, could be all wrong and just laugh at this.
